It Takes a Village

It literally takes a village to raise children. It's not just an old saying. Each village is unique in it's members, but the rallying of support remains the same.

I could not get by without my village. I have relied on them for support with my boys and personal encouragement as I work through some kinks in my plan (I think I am on Plan D at this point haha).

Our culture has shifted so much over the years and it seems as though our collective outlook on parenting has changed. We have become obsessed with having everything "together" on our own and we don't want to let anyone in on the secret of our messy lives. We end up facing parenthood alone. If we could only set our pride aside and acknowledge that no one is parenting perfectly, we may be more open to asking for help and allowing those who come alongside us to meet our needs.

This has taken me a while (far too long) to learn, but when I started to let go of the facade of perfection, I was able to embrace the help of those who were so eager to jump in. I have allowed myself the privilege of raising my boys with some pretty stellar people. This village has given me the support I desperately needed and has made me a better mom in the end.

Thank you to my village. You know very well who you are. xo
