Childlike Faith

Writer's picture: Emily AnneEmily Anne

It is the most magical thing to revisit and reread the “big stories” from the bible to my boys that I grew up learning about in Sunday school. It has been neat to watch as they take in these testimonies of God’s faithfulness for the first time and formulate lots of interesting questions.

As I share these stories with my sweet boys, I sense God drawing particularly close to our family and filling our hearts with His goodness. As I have mentioned before, the last few years have been exceptionally challenging and I believe, with my whole heart, that God has spoken directly to me through His word and through biblical characters. I accepted Jesus into my heart at the age of six (at a backyard bible school in my neighborhood), but it hasn’t been until recently that these stories have developed true meaning. With each story, I have felt God’s reassurance and comfort over different areas of my life.

When we read through the story of Noah and the Arc, I could feel God reminding me that sometimes “floods” are necessary to bring renewal. My life has felt like a flood, but God has rescued me from drowning.

When we read about Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, I was reminded of God’s deliverance from the “fires” life brings. My God delivers!

As we read through the story of David and Goliath, I felt encouraged that I, too, can conquer “giants” when I put my trust in God. Through every struggle, my God is faithful.

God speaks to us if we listen. God is with us and our lives MATTER to Him. My prayer is that you can anticipate and experience His presence with childlike faith.
